MTH 30-2373-3 O MTA World's Fair R-12 Subway Add-On Non Powered Set (Set of 2) EX/Box – Model Train Junction: Quality Parts and Art Supplies

This is a MTH 30-2373-3 Metro. Trans. Authority Subway Set. Manufactured by the American Car and Foundry, the R-12 subway car represented a real break from subway car construction tradition thanks to the infusion of modern conveniences. First appearing on the Flushing Line in 1948, the R-12s contained overhead ceiling fans, overhead florescent lighting and featured quicker acceleration and efficient braking systems for more smoother and reliable performance. The external appearance was distinguished with front and side roll-sign windows for route identification. The R-12 represents the seventh subway car design to debut in our RailKing lineup. The extremely popular series of subway sets has allowed model train layouts to incorporate mass transit into their layouts in a manner never before offered.
