This is an MTH 30-4178-1 Canadian Pacific RS-3 RTR Freight Train Set with Protosound 2.0 from 2007. On July 1, 1867, the new country of Canada was created by the confederation of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and what is today Quebec and Ontario. The eastern provinces were enticed into the deal by the guarantee of a railroad link to the central provinces. Four years later, the promise of a transcontinental railroad brought British Columbia, on the west coast, into confederation as well. The Canadian Pacific Railway Company was created to fulfill those promises, and in 1885 the last spike was driven at Craigellachie, B.C., binding together the second-largest nation on earth. Today 14,000 miles of CPR track extend from Montreal to Vancouver and deep into the U.S., through the CPR’s ownership of what once was the Milwaukee Road, the Soo Line, and the Delaware & Hudson Railway. Decorated in classic CPR livery, this freight set features a powerful, twin-motored RS-3 diesel to help you recreate the CPR’s conquest of the Canadian plains, mountains, and wilderness. Other RailKing engines, such as our 2-8-0 and Bantam steam locomotives, have somewhat scaled-down proportions because a full-scale model would not negotiate the tight curves found on most toy train layouts.

Included are Two-Motored Scale Sized Diesel Locomotives, 31 inch x 51 inch 12-Piece RealTrax Oval, 4-Car Freight Consist, RailWareT Interactive DVD With Track Layout Software, a Z-1000T Transformer With Controller and a Lighted Track Lock-On. The locomotive features Durable ABS Body and Metal Chassis, (2) Flywheel Equipped Motors, Locomotive Speed Control, Electronic Reverse Unit, (2) Remotely Controlled Proto-Couplers, an Operating Headlight, All-Metal Wheels and Gears, Proto-Sound 2.0 Sound System Featuring Freight Yard Proto-Effects and the locomotive measures 14 1/2 inches x 2 1/2 inches x 3 3/4 inches.

The freight cars feature Intricately Detailed Durable ABS Bodies, Durable Die-Cast 4-Wheel Trucks With Smooth-Rolling Metal Wheels and Axles, Operating Die-Cast Metal Couplers, Colorful, Attractive Paint Schemes and Sliding Car Doors. The boxcar measures 11 1/2 inches x 2 3/8 inches x 2 5/16 inches, the tank car measures: 10 7/8 inches x 2 3/8 inches x 3 7/8 inches, the gondola measures: 11 7/8 inches x 2 3/16 inches x 1 11/16 inches and the lighted caboose measures 10 1/4 inches x 2 1/2 inches x 4 1/4 inches.
